Fabricator

About the role

You will be a Fabricator for the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) team, responsible for applying finish protective coatings, fabricating composite structures, and operating various processing equipment to produce high-quality products.

Responsibilities

• Apply finish protective coatings, both air dry and baked, using spray guns and/or brushes
• Operate sandblaster or tumble blast equipment for removal of scale, flux, corrosion, and dirt from materials or parts
• Fabricate composite structures using carbon fiber material
• Set up, plan, and prove the sequence of operations on injection molding machines and related controls
• Monitor and perform required adjustments to ensure acceptable hardware is produced
• Mix paints, lacquers, and enamels and thin to consistency stipulated in company or customer specifications
• Operate spray painting equipment and perform touch-up and rework with spray gun and/or brushes

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
• Ability to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, or 3/12 weekend schedule as required per the collective bargaining agreement
• Experience in carbon fiber pre-preg layup and torque tools
• Ability to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles/Trucks (PIT/V) and wear a respirator
• Ability to operate an Autoclave and work in confined spaces and clean rooms
• Ability to operate sandblaster and tumble blast equipment
• Experience working with carbon fiber material in the fabrication of composite structures and/or applying finish protective coatings using spray guns and brushes
• Experience with optical bonding fabrication, injection molding machines, ablative processing equipment, tape-wrapper, bonding, and mixing paints or lacquers

Desired Skills

• Technical school training in auto painting, precision masking/cutting operations, or carbon fabrication
• Experience with Laser projection systems
• Experience with Cutting Tables, CNC Machines, or rotary cutting lasers
• Experience as a composite assembler
• Strong math/geometry skills
• Previous fiberglass application with gel coat experience

Additional specific benefits are dependent upon the business unit and the collective-bargaining agreement.

For Washington state applicants only: Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month, up to 52 hours of sick leave annually, and receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Pay

$23.92 - $40.93 per hour

The salary range is a general guideline. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and market considerations when extending an offer.

Schedule

This position requires the ability to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts, or a 3/12 weekend schedule as required in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Lockheed Martin and the UAW. Flexible and condensed schedules (e.g., 4x10) may be available, providing additional time off.
