Fabricator

Mission and Responsibilities

The Fabricator role is responsible for operating cranes, fabricating product, and maintaining welding tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the quality and production standards of the company. Specifically, you’ll:

• Lay out, position, align and fit components into welding fixture as instructed.
• Set-up gas-shield, mig-weld and weld parts to job specifications.
• Remove rough spots from castings, using portable powered grinder and hand file, to finish welded parts.
• Versatile positioning of metal components in assembly, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and rule.
• Lifts and positions components on assembly table, using electric crane, jacks and shims.
• Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, welds various metal parts together.
• Operates various equipment necessary to fabricate (jigs, fixtures, grinders, tape measure, level, hammer, etc.).
• Receives instructions, prints and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
• Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning and welding various metals, and cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
• Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
• Builds up worn or defective surfaces, and keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.

Experience and Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy duty machining/ manufacturing environment, preferred.
• Demonstrated skill level of wire feed (MIG) welding.
• Ability to read tape measure and blueprints.
• Ability to read and understand work order routings and instructions.
• Ability to layout parts using weld fixtures.
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills.
