Job Description
Your primary responsibilities will include metal cutting, fabrication, MIG/TIG welding of steel, and aluminum. You will work with blueprints and be responsible for the rigging and moving of heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform metal cutting and fabrication tasks according to specifications and blueprints.
- Conduct MIG/TIG welding on steel and aluminum welding.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project requirements.
- Operate and maintain welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment.
- Ensure all welds meet quality standards and specifications.
- Operate manual milling machines and lathes to create precision parts and components.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure precision and accuracy.
- Utilize rigging techniques to safely move and position heavy equipment and materials.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including grinders, saws, and drills.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring shop cleanliness at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and ensure efficient workflow.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Additional responsibilities include occasional supporting of breakdown team and PM team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or experience in welding, fabrication, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in welding, fabrication, and machining.
- Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding of steel; experience in aluminum welding is preferred.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Strong knowledge of rigging techniques and experience in moving heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with a variety of welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment.
- Operate manual milling machines and lathes to create precision parts and components.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including grinders, saws, and drills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to work with various teams including engineering, division, and outside contractors.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various positions.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Working Conditions
- Good working conditions.
- Heavy lifting in rare instances typically assisted.
- Majority of time light lifting is involved.
- Some exposure to elements of dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, and noise, but none to the extent of being disagreeable.
