FABRICATION WORKER

About the role
The Fabrication Worker will assist in and/or perform all aspects of fabrication under supervision to support the construction industry. Tasks include material handling, assembly of prefabricated systems, and other general labor duties. This position requires mechanical aptitude, mathematical skills, and literacy to meet the role’s primary needs.
Responsibilities
- Operate machinery (including but not limited to drilling/deburring hand tools, welders, cutters, grinders, hydraulic CNC equipment) to fabricate parts and assemble components according to specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and procedures needed for fabrication.
- Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet required quality standards and specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation; adhere to safety protocols and workplace standards.
- Prepare and organize materials needed for the fabrication process, including cutting and shaping metals, plastics, and composites.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure timely production and resolve issues during fabrication.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, production schedules, and inventory usage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fabrication processes, machinery, or materials.
- Perform jobsite housekeeping and general labor tasks.
- Perform other prefabrication-related duties as instructed by a supervisor.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, instructional manuals, and specifications.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic math skills for measuring, calculating dimensions, and material quantities.
- Proficiency in using fabrication tools and machinery.
- Ability to lift heavy materials up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort with handling tools and machinery.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in fabrication or welding are advantageous.
- Previous experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or mechanical environment is preferred.
- Experience with welding, cutting, or machine operation is a plus.
Safety
This is a safety-sensitive position. All applicable policies, including drug testing and background checks, will apply. The role may involve physical working conditions such as:
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Repeated pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching (or working above shoulder), walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing.
- Potential operation of motor vehicles, cranes, tractors, or similar equipment.
