Fabrication Welder

Selective Duties

• Select and properly use safety equipment to complete the assigned task
• Identify welding and cutting processes for each assigned project and then perform the process meeting all quality standards and manufacturing requirements
• Prepare a joint and apply specific weld processes in accordance with the AWS welding symbol(s) called for in the drawing
• Fit and weld on medium and/or large fabrications in a jig fixture
• Fit and weld on large fabrication projects in multiple positions that may include but not limited to overhead, flat, and/or horizontal
• Understands blue-prints and weld symbols with the ability to build weldment from prints
• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding according to blue-prints
• Properly sets up and adjusts welding machine and production-related equipment as needed
• Assembles parts by bolting and riveting
• Repairs parts by grinding, dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling as required

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years related experience and/or equivalent training
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple memos and correspondence
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to read tape measure to the 1/16th of 1 inch
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
