About the role

Zipline is seeking a skilled Construction Worker / Vehicle Fabricator to join our dynamic team. This role involves building and installing custom fixtures, brackets, racks, enclosures, mounts, and structural components on commercial vehicles to support Zipline's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and install custom fixtures, brackets, racks, enclosures, mounts, and structural components on commercial vehicles.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications to ensure every build meets design intent.
  • Measure, cut, drill, grind, fit, and assemble steel, aluminum, composites, and other fabrication materials with precision.
  • Perform vehicle modifications while maintaining structural integrity, quality, and craftsmanship.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication and fitment challenges, working cross-functionally with engineering and production teams to identify practical solutions.
  • Inspect completed work against quality standards and engineering requirements before release.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation throughout the fabrication process.
  • Help improve manufacturing processes by identifying opportunities to increase quality, efficiency, and safety.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in vehicle fabrication, construction, manufacturing, metal fabrication, commercial vehicle upfitting, or a related hands-on mechanical environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to build, troubleshoot, and improve mechanical systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Confidence using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, measuring equipment, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
  • Experience working with fabrication techniques including drilling, cutting, grinding, fastening, fitting, and assembly.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with technicians, engineers, and manufacturing teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve and continuous improvement is expected.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work around commercial vehicles, and spend extended periods standing, bending, kneeling, and working in a fabrication environment.

Qualifications

  • Commercial vehicle upfitting or trailer fabrication experience.
  • MIG or TIG welding experience.
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment such as drill presses, band saws, or hydraulic presses.
  • Familiarity with electrical or pneumatic system installation.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% as needed to support field operations and project execution.
