Fabrication Technician

About the role

The fabrication technician serves a supporting role within the Research & Development team. The primary focus is hands-on execution of project tasks. Activities frequently change on a day-to-day basis, dependent upon the product development phase.

Responsibilities

• Execute hands-on tasks assigned by the Engineering Team
• Fabrication and machining of prototype parts and tooling
• Assist in the design and implementation of experiments to evaluate prototype products and processes
• Collaborate as part of a team to brainstorm and test prototype products & processes
• Document fabrication techniques and quality testing methods for training and transfer of development products and processes
• Assist with the transition from development to manufacturing by providing training to production personnel on new products and processes
• General housekeeping of work areas
• Other duties as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Ability to get along with others and work in a team atmosphere
• Ability to use personal computers to communicate and document information
• Experience using manual or CNC machine shop equipment

Skills

• Experience programming and set up of CNC machines is a plus
• Experience using metal fabrication equipment is a plus
• Experience with mold fabrication and use is preferred
• Experience with thermoplastic or thermoset resin and elastomer is a plus
