Responsibilities

  • Supervise manpower and material to support schedule milestone requirements.
  • Review project schedules and budgets during ship availabilities.
  • Control labor and materials to ensure assigned production work is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Participate in the planning process and direct personnel, assigning work accordingly.
  • Ensure skill level of personnel meets job requirements.
  • Perform ship checks and estimate work as required.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Lead the Shipfitter/Welder Department to successfully complete assigned work within budget and on time.
  • Integrate work efforts with other craft supervision to ensure the overall project adheres to schedule.
  • Plan and schedule work, order materials, and manage craft resources.
  • Develop staff through leading, motivating, training, and disciplining.
  • Respond positively and decisively in normal and emergency situations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety policies, and quality standards.
  • Assist planners, managers, and superintendents with workflow and strategy.
  • Identify, evaluate, and train craft employees to meet job requirements.
  • Supervise activities and manage costs to ensure production and quality meet specifications, costs, and schedules.
  • Maintain machinery and equipment for operational performance and optimum utilization, ensuring inspections remain current.
  • Enforce worker compliance with procedures in production, accuracy control, safety, cost, and quality assurance.
  • Lead and oversee fabrication operations in support of Electric Boat programs, ensuring safe, efficient execution in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Provide direct leadership to welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel while coordinating with Electric Boat and BAE Systems stakeholders to resolve production challenges, improve productivity, and maintain schedule performance.
  • Drive accountability, workforce development, safety compliance, quality, and continuous improvement while ensuring alignment between BAE Systems and Electric Boat fabrication requirements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with a high school diploma, 8+ years with an associate degree, or 4+ years with a bachelor’s degree. Equivalent experience, training, and/or certifications may substitute for the degree.
  • At least 8 years in fabrication experience; previous fabrication experience is highly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding, knowledge, technical skills, and concepts related to ship fitting, welding, and blueprint reading.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of NAVSEA specifications, NAVSEA Standard items, MIL-STD 1688, 1689, USCG, ABS, and other marine guidelines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to clearly write reports, business correspondence, manuals, and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and/or ladders of varying heights to complete jobs or inspections.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors under all weather conditions.
  • Physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to obtain and maintain access to Electric Boat Fabrication and BAE Facilities.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a "DBIDS" access card.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $92,180 - $156,707. Individual salaries are determined by factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
