Fabrication Shop Lead
About the role
The Fabrication Shop Lead position is a pivotal leadership role within Larrance Steel's logistics and operations division. This role oversees daily fabrication shop activities to ensure high-quality structural steel production timelines are met, coordinates complex labor and production schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize material waste, cultivates a supportive culture by applying tactical empathy to navigate interpersonal team dynamics, supervises the operation and maintenance of advanced robotic fabrication and steel cutting equipment, mentors and develops team members to enhance their technical welding and fabrication capabilities, and resolves real-time logistical bottlenecks independently to keep critical commercial projects on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily fabrication shop activities to ensure high-quality structural steel production timelines are met.
- Cook up complex labor and production schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize material waste.
- Cultivate a supportive culture by applying tactical empathy to navigate interpersonal team dynamics.
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of advanced robotic fabrication and steel cutting equipment.
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance their technical welding and fabrication capabilities.
- Resolve real-time logistical bottlenecks independently to keep critical commercial projects on schedule.
Requirements
- Advanced technical understanding of steel fabrication, part layout, and blueprint interpretation.
- Demonstrated experience developing operational schedules and managing production floor workflows.
- Strong commitment to people-centric leadership with a deep understanding of team responsibility.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills used to build strong, cohesive working teams.
Qualifications
- 5 years of related work experience in an industrial steel fabrication environment.
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent with additional technical leadership training.
- Proven experience managing or implementing automated robotic machinery within a production shop.
