Fabrication Shop Foreperson - Plumbing

About the role

This position is responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of personnel within the assigned Hydronics Shop area(s). It involves leading and overseeing Hydronics production personnel to ensure standards and productivity are met, managing resources, and executing strategies and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee Hydronics production personnel at the assigned location to ensure standards and productivity are met to achieve company goals
  • Operate directly with direct reports to manage resource management
  • Select team members for all fabrication activities and execute strategies and schedules for fabrication orders
  • Resolve issues, challenges, and obstacles, and ensure compliance with QA/QC protocols, safety department protocols, and code practices
  • Mentor and train shop personnel to be future leaders and monitor third-party vendors working on or at the assigned shop
  • Attend regular department meetings and continuously evaluate all personnel to ensure performance is at the highest level
  • Maintain proper staffing levels to meet project schedules and ensure productivity and efficiency standards are met
  • Monitor and advise on quality control measures to ensure high-quality output at or above industry standards

  • Ensure compliance with the current local union Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Assist with tracking and evaluating all shop productivity metrics and ensure best practices are applied
  • Aid in the development and implementation of processes and procedures to achieve high-level quality, productivity, and efficiency
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with fabrication operations
  • Ensure safety measures are up-to-date and communicate effectively to all shop personnel to mitigate risk and reduce liability
  • Support the safety and field leadership teams to facilitate modified work schedules for injured personnel
  • Collaborate with other Regional Shop and Construction Operations Leadership to share experiences and develop best practices, align processes, and leverage resources

  • Assist with departmental budgets and financial planning

Requirements

  • Excellent leadership skills including honesty, integrity, patience, empathy, and a strong work ethic
  • Effective communication at all levels of the business
  • Experience and deep understanding of all hydronics trades and fabrication practices
  • 15+ years of experience in construction including 5+ years in hydronics fabrication
  • Experience with the various business and corporate software technologies
  • Proficient in English
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of local quality, occupational safety, and health regulations for construction job sites
  • Preferred but not required: Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or architecture, experience in remote training softwares and technologies used within best-in-class organizations, software experience: CRM/PM Platforms: Bidtracer, Collaboration: Smartsheet, Slack, Revitzio, PlanGrid, Design/Detailing: Autodesk AEC Collection (Revit, AutoCAD, Assemble, Navisworks), Spooling – MSuite Bimpro, Fabrication: MSuite Fabpro, Trimble, Proficient in Spanish

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
