About the Role

The Fabrication Associate performs various electrical fabrication tasks under the direct supervision of the Fabrication Manager. This role involves maintaining an orderly work area, demonstrating safe work habits, and ensuring proper care of tools and equipment. Fabrication Associates are prohibited from working on energized circuits or equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate metal cutting saws, conduit benders, conduit threading machines, drills, and hand tools to fabricate components according to electrical drawings.
  • Load and stack stock, tools, and work in progress.
  • Assist in equipment operations, material replenishment, and housekeeping of work areas.
  • Perform duties safely, following all safety policies and procedures, and suggest workplace improvements.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • High School Graduate/GED required.
  • No prior experience required, but preferred skills include:
    • Professional appearance and conduct.
    • OSHA 10 Hour, CPR, and First Aid training.
    • Ability to maintain high productivity, meet deadlines, and communicate professionally.
  • Must pass references, background check, and drug screen testing.

Working Conditions

  • Work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Carry required personal tools (waist tool belt weighs ~30 lbs).
  • Work from ladders and transport them unassisted; personal weight with tools must not exceed ladder capacity.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Regularly work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required.

Physical/Mental Functions

  • Identify colors of wires and other items.
  • Comprehend construction drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Bend conduit using hand benders and safely operate power tools.
  • Comprehend and practice safe work procedures.
  • Operate two-handed tools (e.g., cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools).
  • Read and interpret maps, manuals, and written instructions.
  • Hear and see well (with or without correction).
  • Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting/carrying of up to 20 lbs.
  • Tolerate prolonged standing and movement.
  • Climb ladders (all types) and access construction sites via OSHA-approved ladders or stairs.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Secure tools and materials from storage areas.
