About the role
An opportunity is available for a Fabric Platform Engineer to join a new platform team within a Workplace AI and Data Analytics organization. This role focuses on platform ownership, automation, governance, and operational maturity for the Microsoft Fabric platform. The primary goal is to automate environment provisioning, establish operational standards, and support the enterprise adoption of Power BI and Fabric. This is a hands-on engineering position centered on building and operationalizing the platform, not a data engineering or AI development role.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support Microsoft Fabric platform environments.
- Build and enhance automated environment provisioning processes.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Fabric deployments using GitHub.
- Manage Fabric environment creation, configuration, capacity planning, and resource management.
- Configure and maintain Power BI environments and support Data Gateway implementation and administration.
- Integrate data sources from AWS, Microsoft 365, and GCP.
- Drive the reduction of manual provisioning and operational tasks through automation.
- Support platform governance, standards, and operational maturity.
- Partner with AI and engineering teams to support future initiatives.
Requirements
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric in an enterprise setting is required.
- Strong understanding of Power BI, Data Gateway, OneLake, Fabric administration, and capacity management.
- Experience with GitHub and CI/CD automation for deployment pipelines.
- Demonstrable experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), platform automation, and DevOps practices.
- Experience integrating cloud-hosted data sources, with familiarity with AWS and GCP environments.
- Ability to operate in an emerging platform environment where processes are still being established.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- PowerShell scripting or other automation experience.
- Experience with the Microsoft fabric-cicd Python library and the Terraform provider for Fabric.
- Background in operating a Fabric or Power BI Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Experience with cross-cloud data integration patterns, such as OneLake and AWS S3.
- DP-700 (Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate) certification is an asset.
