About the role

We are looking for an experienced, ATCT (Tower) Air Traffic Control Instructor II to join the SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team onsite at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, OK, supporting air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Casual, part-time, and full-time positions are available.

The CTS Academy Instructor-II is a hands-on position that requires the candidate to effectively and consistently deliver the highest quality training to a wide variety of developmental air traffic control students. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical skills with current ATC automation, simulation systems, and procedures, and must demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for obtaining ATCT (TSS) simulation laboratory certification at the FAA Academy.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ensures that air traffic control specialists provide the flying public with a high level of safety and professionalism. A well-trained Air Traffic Control (ATC) workforce is essential in fulfilling this responsibility. The FAA trains new air traffic control specialists and provides recurrent training to current specialists. To meet these training needs, the FAA utilizes contractor-provided instructional services at the FAA Academy and ATC facilities throughout the U.S. and its territories. The scope of these services includes all training and training program support to successfully prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality training to developmental air traffic control students.
• Demonstrate proficiency with ATC automation, simulation systems, and procedures.
• Obtain and maintain ATCT (TSS) simulation laboratory certification at the FAA Academy.
• Provide training and training-related support services for all types and levels of ATC facilities.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Minimum of 3 years of FAA CPC or equivalent Military ATCS experience in a civilian/military ATCT or ATCT/TRACON or other equivalent civilian facility. This experience must have been at a facility equal to or exceeding an ATC facility level 7, up to and including level 9.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) or Military equivalent certification required, with the ability to obtain and maintain Instructor-II Simulation Laboratory Certification.

Skills

• Direct experience as a certified ATC Instructor at the FAA Academy (preferred but not required).
• Operational experience with ATC simulators, including scenario design for simulation platforms (e.g., TSS, AT Coach, SGET, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with FAA personnel at all levels to ensure training services meet facility and FAA mission needs.
• Excellent teaching and platform skills, classroom management techniques, and a student-focused drive for continuous improvement.

Schedule

Casual (includes on-call and temporary), with rotating shifts.
