About the role
The Cooper F&B Intern is responsible for overseeing table maintenance, maintaining the flow of service, and assisting the servers in the dining room. Must be pleasant, conscientious, and professional with excellent knowledge of food and alcoholic beverage selections. Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and ensure smooth service operations and quality service.
Responsibilities
- Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture and values of The Cooper.
- Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, professional, gracious service at all times.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations that are cohesive with the restaurant’s philosophy, culture, and standards of excellence.
- Recognize or seek areas for staff and restaurant improvement and offer positive solutions for change.
- Operate within the restaurant daily with efficiency, respect, friendliness, professionalism, teamwork, knowledge, patience, awareness, compassion, courtesy, and initiative.
- Understand completely all programs, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs.
- Display consistent attention to detail and follow through on all restaurant policies.
- Represent the restaurant professionally through effective communication, cooperation, and relationships with all business partners.
- Deliver food to tables, describe dishes to guests, and perform tableside service.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and assist the kitchen in expediting the service process.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in hospitality management or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Positive attitude with an extremely welcoming and approachable demeanor.
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional colleague experiences.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the hotel for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, leaders, guests, and vendors.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
