The Boeing Company is looking for an F-22 System Test Tools & Automation Software Engineer to join the F-22 Simulations and Testing Infrastructure team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization, which designs, develops, and demonstrates avionics solutions for the F-22 Raptor, the premier 5th gen air superiority fighter flown only by the United States Air Force (USAF).

About the role

You will work as a member of an agile team to create and maintain the simulation environment and testing infrastructure used to support the development and test of advanced capabilities of the F-22 Raptor. This role involves developing analysis tools, automation scripts, and other support software to modernize system-level labs, as well as significant software/hardware integration.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite at one of the listed location options. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required) and access to Special Access Programs (SAP).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with system lab partners to identify needs and participate in solution generation for lab modernization.
  • Self-start on problem identification and communicate ideas and problem statements to leadership and technical personnel.
  • Support the design, architecture, and development of simulation models, visualizations, virtual environments, and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and dynamics of the systems being simulated.
  • Support designing, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize overall system performance and capabilities.
  • Contribute to data collection and processing for use in simulations.
  • Support validation, verification, and refinement of simulation software code, models, simulations, test procedures, and test environments by executing test procedures, documenting results, and modeling against real-world data, test data, or benchmarks.
  • Contribute to documenting and maintaining technical code, algorithms, specifications, and descriptions of simulation models.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to enable integration of simulation software with hardware devices and systems.
  • Support implementing current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the software engineering simulation environment.
  • Support modernizing, migrating, sustaining, and updating simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP).
  • 2 or more years of experience with software development and/or troubleshooting software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 2: 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level 4: 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with software development using C, C++, or Ada.
  • Experience with Go, Java, C/C++, Rust, or Python.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows development.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration.
  • Experience in designing, developing, integrating, applying, and testing software models, simulations, framework environments, tools, and applications with higher-order programming languages, assembly, and auto-code.
  • Experience with performing Application Programming Interface (API) design, implementation, and testing.
  • Experience in real-time software architecture and design methodologies to synthesize models and simulation frameworks that meet real-time requirements, including knowledge of real-time target environments, processor and network architecture, communication protocols, and electrical interfaces.
  • Experience with building and execution environments that include hosts, processors, operating systems, and networks.
  • Experience with verification, validation, certification, and qualification processes.
  • Experience with containerization technologies, including managing containers, deploying applications in a containerized environment, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and security (focus on security best practices and technologies).

Pay

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  • Associate (Level 2): $99,450 - $134,550
  • Experienced (Level 3): $126,650 - $171,350
  • Senior (Level 4): $160,650 - $217,350
