Extrusion Production Supervisor Night Shift

About the role

Ply Gem (part of Cornerstone Building Brands) is seeking a Production Supervisor for the night shift. This position is full-time and operates on a 2,2,3 schedule.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the manufacture of building products to meet production demands, ensuring quality, safety, and environmental responsibility
• Develop and implement staffing guidelines to optimize human resource utilization and control manpower costs
• Hire, supervise, evaluate, and replace staff as necessary to meet performance objectives
• Maintain leadership and supervisory skills by developing and training team members, evaluating them annually, and conducting shift meetings for safety and production
• Train personnel in tooling, troubleshooting, machine set-up, operation, safety procedures, record keeping, etc.
• Identify potential career paths for associates and assist in their skill development
• Interview qualified candidates for manufacturing positions and recommend hires to Human Resources
• Assign personnel to extrusion lines or production areas and oversee line or area rotations and break schedules
• Complete or oversee the completion of paperwork related to line operation, operator logs, PM logs, audits, and corrective actions
• Interrupt the normal flow of work to address short notice production or shipping needs
• Administer policies fairly and consistently, provide coaching and counseling, and ensure adherence to company guidelines
• Identify and assist with continuous process improvements
• Use statistics or SPC to control extrusion and production processes
• Control materials to minimize waste
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
• 1-3 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with relevant experience in sheet extrusion and fenestration preferred
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills, capable of educating and training non-degreed operators and technicians
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other plant leadership members and supervise, motivate, and mentor associates
• Proficiency in all aspects of extrusion operation, quality standards, STOP, and 5S principles
• Upper-level mathematical and mechanical skills, proficiency in calipers and other measuring devices, and knowledge of PVC resin/compound blending and fenestration processes
• Excellent attendance record

Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $65,000-$77,000. The shift follows a 2,2,3 schedule with hours from 6pm-6am. Full-time team members receive medical, dental, and vision benefits starting day 1.
