Extrusion Operator Trainee (Nights)

About the role

We are a leading global supplier of technical specialty films with focus on polycarbonate and thermoplastic polyurethane films, also supplemented with coated films. Production locations in Europe, North America and Asia. As part of the Strategic Business Entity Specialty Films, you will operate and troubleshoot plant equipment, machines and lines to produce quality materials for customers in Automotive, Medical and Security segments.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and shut down production equipment including blender, resin dryer, 4.5 extruder, take-off tower, die, slitter, trim winder and film winder
• Start up and shut down equipment including pre-start up safety interlock review
• Keep machine fed with resin mixture by accurately calculating formulation, adding, blending and drying the batch resin components
• Observe and adjust process parameters to ensure proper product specifications
• Record process and product information, test samples, complete order paperwork
• Make quality judgments about film produced
• Maintain equipment, including teardown and reassembly of the extruder screw and die

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Willing to work a 12-hour shift; positions available on night shift (7pm–7am)
• Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 50 lbs of weight, climb stairs, lift and pull 10 lbs of weight in the overhead position, work in ambient room temperature of 100°F, and work safely around numerous hot surfaces and rotating equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the extrusion of films
• 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
• Fork truck certification
• Hoisting and rigging experience
• Working knowledge of computers and SAP software
