About the Role

TekniPlex is hiring an Extrusion Operator for our Manchester, NH facility. In this role, you will set up, operate, and tend machines to extrude thermoplastic materials into tubes, solids, shapes, or coated products.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in line setup according to run sheet, adjusting equipment and machinery to meet product specifications.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to specifications using tools such as laser micrometers, gage pins, tape measures, snap gages, and calipers.
  • Identify and pull materials using production paperwork and load machinery.
  • Adjust equipment to ensure product count meets customer specifications.
  • Perform line safety inspections to ensure equipment is running properly.
  • Read, retain, and decipher information from work orders and customer prints to produce parts.
  • Perform other duties as required by business needs or assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED certification; 18 months of related work experience preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred.
  • Self-directed with good communication and interpersonal skills, using tact and diplomacy.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, and technical drawings (machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical).
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
