Extrusion Lead
Promotions
Oversees press operation to include safety, safety training, housekeeping, quality, career and performance counseling of the press crews and die/profile optimization.
Responsibilities
- Promotes an environment where doing things safely is the highest priority.
- Ensures all employees fulfill their HSE responsibilities and sets an example for the team to follow.
- Participates in workplace and behavioral observations.
- Provides health and safety training to the team, ensuring the understanding of how to safely perform each task.
- Led accident/incident reviews and develop corrective actions.
- Continually monitors environmental, health and safety performance to ensure continual improvement.
- Identifies hazards in the workplace to eliminate or reduce risks as far as possible.
- Continually drives housekeeping initiative and improvements.
- Responsible for his/her own health, security and safety and shall cooperate and contribute to the creation of a safe, secure and healthy working environment and to the achievement of the Company’s environmental obligations and goals.
- Conducts monthly safety training.
- Audits and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Audits and enforce good housekeeping policies and procedures.
- Cross-trains employees to develop staff that can cover all positions when needed.
- Hold daily meetings to review safety, production and housekeeping issues with employees.
- Update and maintain daily production board information at assigned press.
- Makes recommendations to die/profile optimization to maximize production and minimize scrap (extrusion speed, temperatures and billet length).
- Communicates and works well with fellow employees of all levels in a Team effort.
- Complies with company safety and housekeeping specifications.
- Monitors operating supplies to ensure production needs are met and not interrupted.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in extrusion setup and machine operation.
- Will consider related training at an accredited technical center, etc.
- Must read and understand all work and safety instructions relevant to their specific position.
- Must read and understand quality system operating procedures relevant to DMR, corrective and preventive action.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
- Must clearly understand and enforce parameters stated in the LPL/SCS card instructions.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must comply with company safety and housekeeping specifications.
- Must comply with lockout/tag out procedures.
- Must be able to understand and deliver basic commands in English.
