About the role
As an extruder operator, you will set up, maintain, and operate machinery to ensure the continuous and efficient running of production. We are looking for reliable and attentive team members. On-the-job training will be provided to elevate your skills, so a willingness to learn and improve is essential. Being a team player is required, as all tasks will involve close collaboration with colleagues. The goal is to ensure production procedures run smoothly, maximizing efficiency while maintaining a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and oversee all activities on your assigned machine for your shift.
- Set up machines to start a production cycle.
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed, temperature).
- Load extruder hopper with plastic granules and color concentrate per job specifications.
- Set up printing section with assistance when required.
- Load reels of wire into payoff stand, lace wire through preheater-wire straightener into and through the extruder head, die water trough, capstan spark tester, and onto the take-up reel.
- Monitor all machine functions while operating.
- Fix issues that may occur during the shift.
- Check output to identify machine-related mistakes or flaws.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned; responsibilities are not limited to the above.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a machine operator.
- Knowledge of process equipment, tooling, and procedures to set up, operate, and maintain equipment safely and productively.
- Understanding of production procedures and preventative maintenance.
- Adherence to safety regulations.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical stamina and strength.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.
- 2-3 years of experience with wire, PVC, and/or plastic extrusion.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Pay
$18.00 - $21.00 per hour (depending on experience and shift).
Schedule
2nd Shift (3:30 PM - 12:00 AM).
