Extruder Operator (1st Shift)

About the role

Shift Hours: 7 AM - 3 PM

Responsibilities

• Packaging: making boxes/crates, packing merchandise, taping/banding boxes/crates, completing labels, and affixing labels to boxes/crates/reels according to the Quality Control Plan
• Palletizing boxes to be shipped and shrink wrapping/banding pallets according to specifications on the Quality Control Plan
• Quality Control: reading, understanding, and accurately completing the Production Report, using a caliper and comparator for quality control, and notifying the shift supervisor if samples are outside of tolerances
• Material Requirements: ensuring the hopper is full of raw material, measuring and mixing colorant, and maintaining a clean work area
• Machine Configuration: tearing down and setting up the extruder, changing screens, and caring for die and other precision parts
• Producing a profile on extruded parts that meets specifications established in the Quality Control Plan

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous manufacturing experience is a plus
• Ability to operate a variety of machinery, small hand tools, and precision measuring devices
• Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen and physical health evaluation

Physical Job Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Frequent: Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting (up to 50 lbs), pushing, pulling, and moving items. Requires the ability to move around the plant and maneuver product when necessary. Frequent walking and standing (up to 8 hours) is required. Visual requirements include ability to visually verify parts for quality due to color and set specifications. Identifying and reading reports, labels, and packing materials is also required. Climbing ladders, using equipment tools, and operating a forklift (upon completion of in-house certification) are also necessary. Must be able to use hands to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls and wear required safety equipment when necessary.

Work Environmental Job Requirements

The work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The warehouse environment may have uneven walking surfaces, fumes or airborne particles, and poor lighting. Floors may become slippery, and doors are frequently opened, causing drafts and temperature changes. The internal warehouse temperature can fluctuate, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud (hearing protection is optional but available).
