About the Role

The Extraction Technician is responsible for producing cannabis extracts and products, including extracting, refining, and purifying cannabinoids from plant material into concentrated forms using various solvents. This role may also assist in filling, packaging, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively perform all methods of cannabis extraction, winterization, filtration, ethanol recovery, and distillation in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare and operate equipment for processing, including extractors, solvent reclamation, and extract refinement.
  • Prepare formulations according to batch records and assist in other formulation-related tasks.
  • Perform inventory control actions, including weighing, labeling, packaging, product logging, and recording measurable data in compliance with state regulations.
  • Adhere to quality control SOPs and verify standards are met throughout the process.
  • Maintain a clean, compliant, and safe work environment; report compliance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Meet daily goals, extraction objectives, and KPIs set by management.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Extraction Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory and/or production experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain focus and attention to detail.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must meet the minimum age required by state regulations and pass state-mandated background checks.
  • Understanding of basic laboratory terminology and concepts.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and occasionally stressful environment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow complex written, verbal, and technical instructions.

Schedule

Available to work Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM ET, with flexibility for mandatory overtime as required to meet business needs.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Manufacturing environment requiring extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs for up to 100 ft may be required.
  • Regular repetitive arm/hand movements required for tasks such as packing.
  • Extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate small objects.
  • Ability to work in a range of hot and cold temperature extremes.
  • Must wear required PPE, including lab coats, hair/beard nets, gloves, masks, safety glasses, goggles, and splash shields while working in the laboratory.
