About the Role
This volunteer position uses leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills for the overall direction, coordination, and coaching of the high school racquetball program to support the development of each student.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all school, district, league, and OSAA rules.
- Coordinate all practices and ensure equitable use of facilities.
- Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of racquetball to participants and, where appropriate, to parents.
- Assist in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of all assistant coaches and volunteers as approved for the program.
- Approve all program schedules in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Enforce program policies and recommend policy changes to the appropriate administrator.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Motivate assistant coaches and volunteers while enhancing morale.
- In-service staff on medical procedures for injured participants in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Model and enforce policies, rules, and regulations concerning sportsmanship.
- Maintain a commitment to ongoing personal and team growth.
- Cooperate with administration to maintain eligibility rosters.
- Promote and assist with fund-raising and grant applications for the program as needed.
- Maintain equipment and supplies inventory; hold staff and students accountable for supplies and equipment.
- Order additional or replacement equipment in conjunction with the Athletic Director as approved.
- Manage the ASB and district budgets for the sport.
- Supervise and manage site operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate staff and student records.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment.
- Coordinate campus events as needed.
- Serve as a contributing member of district-wide committees as needed.
- Ensure prompt and regular attendance.
Other Duties
- Assist in arranging school-level public relations and publicity for special events and achievements.
- Establish, coordinate, and maintain communication with community and parent groups.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and remain a flexible, innovative team builder.
Requirements
- Prior job-related experience in racquetball or coaching.
- Skills to work effectively with coaches and students.
- Knowledge of district policies and procedures regarding co-curricular activities.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work independently with minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks, adjust to flexible assignments (including some night work), and communicate with students, staff, and parents.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprinting Clearance.
- Current First Aid Card and Bloodborne Pathogen Training.
- ASEP (American Sport Education Program) Certification.
