About the role

The Extinguisher Shop Technician provides support to technicians, the shop, and office under the guidance of the Supervisor. This role focuses on cleanliness, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and contributing to customer satisfaction through hands-on technical tasks and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper functioning of equipment and shop.
  • Support the maintenance of safety standards and processes.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels, transferring material, receiving material, organizing material, shipping material, and preparing material for pick-up.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers to ensure they are in proper working condition and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Conduct tests to verify the functionality of fire extinguishers, including pressure testing and checking the discharge mechanism.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as refilling extinguishers, replacing worn-out parts, and recharging units after use.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning fire extinguishers.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, maintenance activities, and repairs performed on each fire extinguisher.
  • Provide guidance to customers on fire extinguisher use, maintenance best practices, and fire safety procedures.
  • Ensure all fire extinguishers meet relevant safety standards and regulations set forth by authorities such as NFPA and OSHA.
  • Monitor inventory levels of fire extinguishers and related equipment; communicate low stock needs to purchasing departments.
  • Support the completion and uploading of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) forms for all Hydro Pit jobs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
