Responsibilities
- Consult with mortgage applicants to identify financial needs and offer solutions based on a review of income, credit report, collateral, assets, and other relevant information.
- Request the appropriate documentation to make a qualified decision of approval or denial.
- Review and analyze information to determine if it meets Canvas lending guidelines and Secondary Marketing guidelines.
- Maintain a high level of service, consistency, and professionalism by delivering Canvas Core Values to both internal and external members at every touchpoint.
- Ensure exceptional member experience by overseeing the loan process from origination to close and providing ongoing weekly communication to members and business partners.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, Canvas standards, state and federal laws, and TRID disclosure regulations.
- Confirm rate locks with members and upload pricing worksheets into LOS.
- Receive Intent to Proceed and documents LOS, upload member documentation into mortgage loan operating system, submit complete and accurate loan application to processing, return member phone calls and emails the same day, but no later than the next business day after the message is received.
- Establish relationships with Realtors, Builders, Financial Advisors, CPA’s, Accountants, and other referral sources in targeted geographical market areas for the purpose of soliciting mortgage loans for the credit union.
- Attend monthly Realtor meetings and events.
- Organize with business partners to sponsor events to introduce the credit union offerings.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Maintain a close working relationship with assigned branch managers and present mortgage updates and education at monthly branch meetings.
- Resolve member issues in a timely, consistent, and professional manner.
- Meet established mortgage origination goals including initiating leads and closing referrals.
- Follow-up on all pre-qualified purchase loan requests to proactively meet member needs and keep member interest high.
- Attend all purchase closings or make arrangements for a Canvas mortgage representative to attend.
- Attend all Canvas Mortgage Team Member meetings or have prior approval from management for the absence.
- Follow-up with members after closing to identify additional needs or to answer questions.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities and educate members on credit union products and services.
- Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), S.A.F.E. ACT, and other compliance requests and requirements.
- Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficient knowledge of mortgage products and guidelines; stays abreast of loans, terms, and credit options available.
- Proficient knowledge of Secondary Market, RESPA, TRID, and MDIA guidelines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain programs, loan terms, features, policies, and benefits to customers and business partners.
- Strong relationship building and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated track record of success in sales and customer service.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Canvas financial products and services.
- Must be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Able to maintain confidences.
- Must have current NMLS S.A.F.E. ACT registration number.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado drivers’ license and provide proof of insurance.
- Must possess an automobile for use to travel to multiple locations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school is preferable.
- One to three years’ mortgage lending experience.
