Exterior Lighting Engineer

About the role

The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of experience as a Lighting Design Representative (DRE) in the automotive industry.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in automotive interior and exterior lighting design.

Responsibilities

• Work with the styling team to perform feasibility studies and check A-class surfaces to define craftsmanship targets.
• Create and complete all lighting components and perform manufacturing feasibility.
• Design automotive component parts in CATIA V6.
• Engage actively with Tier-I suppliers to collaborate on design projects, balancing cost, mass, joining methods, molding, and testing performance.
• Complete and release lighting components, sub-systems, and detail designs.
• Interpret simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design.

Requirements

Good knowledge of automotive exterior lighting systems and key components such as Head Lamp, Tail Lamp, Center light panel, and corner lamps is required.

Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in automotive interior and exterior lighting design is preferred.

Skills

• Experience as a Lighting DRE in the automotive industry (at least 3 years).
• Knowledge of automotive exterior lighting systems and key components.
• Proficiency in CATIA V6 for designing automotive component parts.
• Ability to work effectively with the styling team and Tier-I suppliers.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design.
