About the role

The Extension EFNEP Program Assistant (Adult) will be responsible for two program areas with 50% of the time and work dedicated to 4-H youth programs and 50% of the time and work dedicated to Expanded Food and Nutrition programs in Macon County schools.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and enroll adult and school-aged youth participants into the program.
  • Make regular teaching visits to participants in group settings.
  • Teach basic principles of nutrition and food preparation skills.
  • Submit required program records as requested.
  • Market the program within the assigned area.
  • Recruit volunteers from within the community involving them in leadership roles.
  • Collaborate with local Cooperative Extension staff and agencies.
  • Aid in securing program resources.

Requirements

  • The minimum requirement for employment with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE) is a high-school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the community and social service programs for low-income families.
  • Experience teaching and/or working with limited resource adults and/or youth; and/or nutrition education experience.

Qualifications

  • Valid NC Driver's License required.

Skills

  • Ability to travel within the county, district and state using a personal vehicle.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the role of NC Cooperative Extension as an educational agency.
  • Ability to enhance program visibility by communicating program impacts to local stakeholders and potential participants.
  • Ability to promote educational opportunities beyond EFNEP within Cooperative Extension and partnering agencies to program participants.
  • Ability to recruit, train and utilize volunteers to assist in program marketing, data collection and program delivery.
  • Ability to meet established programmatic standards for performance and impact.

Pay

Minimum $32,562

Schedule

8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Nights and weekends as required.
