About the Role

Oklahoma State University (OSU) Extension educators are the “front door” to the University, providing a link between OSU and the people of the state in all 77 Oklahoma counties. OSU Extension represents a federal, state, and county partnership working since 1914. The mission of OSU Extension is to disseminate information to the people of Oklahoma and encourage the adoption of research-generated knowledge. Extension educators provide research-based information to clientele in the areas of agriculture, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development, and community and rural development.

This position is located in the Blaine County Extension Office, Watonga, Oklahoma. It provides leadership to agricultural and 4-H youth development programs in a dual assignment with approximately 50% of time spent in agriculture and 50% in 4-H youth development work. The role involves collaborating as a cohesive team member to engage local clientele and advisory groups in planning, implementing, and evaluating the total OSU Extension County program. Due to communication expectations, the incumbent must maintain a cellular or other electronic communication device, with compensation provided for personal device use.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends.

Pay

Base annual salary for entry-level educators with a bachelor’s degree is $45,000; with a master’s degree, it is $51,000. Starting salary is based on education and prior relevant work experience. Extension educators hired with only a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master’s degree. Continuation of employment is based on need, performance, and available county funding.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to agricultural and 4-H youth development programs in a dual assignment (50% agriculture, 50% 4-H).
• Collaborate with local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement, and evaluate OSU Extension County programs.
• Maintain a cellular or other electronic communication device for professional use (compensation provided).
• Design, promote, present, and evaluate educational programs, ensuring outreach to diverse audiences.
• Build and maintain relationships with clientele, advisory groups, volunteer leaders, and other professionals.
• Demonstrate effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a closely related field (must be conferred on or before the agreed-upon start date).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for official travel (reimbursement provided).
