Extension Agent - Madison County

About the role

The successful candidate will be a member of Tennessee State University and Madison County Extension. This position is 100% dedicated to 4-H Youth Development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and report county extension 4-H educational programs as needed in the county.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate programs, events, and activities through traditional 4-H clubs, project groups, educational workshops, camps, conferences, and special interest classes.
  • Develop and maintain good public relations with educational officials, collaborative agencies, program sponsors, and elected and appointed officials.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate 4-H programs based on County, State, and Federal Programs and clientele needs.
  • Perform other related duties as required by County, Regional, and State Extension Administrators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Family & Consumer Sciences, Education, or other closely related discipline.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Extension program planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Proven effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with teams.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which will include some nights, weekends, and overnight travel.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and the ability to obtain/maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of program planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using print media, radio, and television.
  • Ability to document and market program impacts and provide leadership and demonstrate self-reliance in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work with UT and TSU Extension programming personnel.

Skills

  • Knowledge and experience with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) preferred.

Pay

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check as mandated by Tennessee State University.

Schedule

This position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with fiscal coverage for 12 months.
