Responsibilities
- Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Observes time limits for meal serving.
- Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.
- Aids cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked food such as salads, vegetables, and fruits.
- Prepares simple foods like breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.
- Reads and records food and fridge temperatures.
- Cleans plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher.
- Cleans pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
- Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
- Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
- Receives and stores food supplies on a weekly basis.
- Cleans and organizes the food storage room on a weekly basis according to schedule.
- Assembles nourishment carts.
- Attends in-service education programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC Home.
- 0-1 year(s) of experience.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Read and write English as well as understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to work weekends, days, and evenings as per schedule.
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
- Must be able to do moderate to heavy lifting.
- Must be able to work in cold temperatures.
