Extended School Year - Secondary Special Education CID Teacher

About the role

The position involves working with school-age students who have special education needs under an extended school year schedule from July 6-23, 2023.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to due process guidelines and evaluate special education needs using district recommended methods and instruments.
• Facilitate team decisions regarding eligibility and develop and share evaluation plans and reports with parents.
• Develop and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and attend IEP meetings.
• Provide parents/guardians with Rights and Procedural Safeguards information and notify them of team meetings.
• Develop and share progress reports with parents and communicate regularly about their child’s progress.
• Work with general education teachers to plan and implement curriculum and assessments.
• Support paraprofessionals in implementing IEP goals and provide job performance feedback.
• Maintain and promote confidentiality of student data according to data privacy laws.
• Provide direct instruction and assist students in achieving their IEP goals.
• Collaborate with related service providers and utilize technology strategies/equipment for students.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
• Bill third parties when necessary and utilize conflict management strategies when needed.
• Attend cluster meetings related to special education.

Qualifications

• Valid Minnesota teaching license in a special education field.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience teaching school-age students.
• Ability to work collaboratively and positively with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Knowledge and experience with due process procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with conflict resolution.
• Training and experience in behavior management and knowledge of crisis response.
