Extended School Year - Middle School Bridge Teacher

About the Program

The BRIDGE program is a specialized, intensive program based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis that serves students on the Autism Spectrum. The program team includes a special education teacher, instructional assistants, and consultation from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Speech and Language Pathologist, and Occupational Therapist.

Services provided to students include a combination of discrete trial training, supported inclusion, small group activities, and incidental teaching. The goal is for students to increase their independent skills in academics, recreation, social interaction, communication, self-care, motor skills, and behavior regulation, as well as generalize these skills to new situations and environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction to students with autism and other special needs using Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
• Design and implement behavioral management programs.
• Support students in increasing independent skills across academic, social, communication, self-care, motor, and behavior regulation domains.
• Facilitate generalization of skills to new situations and environments.

Requirements

• Massachusetts Teaching Certification: Teacher of Moderate Special Needs or Teacher of Severe Disabilities.
• Experience instructing students with autism and other special needs.
• Background in Applied Behavior Analysis.
• Strong curriculum and academic background.
