About the role
Headfirst Summer Camp Extended Day (PMX) Camp Counselor leads campers in pre-written curriculum, engaging them in activities like arts and crafts, storytime, sports and games, and playground time. This position requires enthusiasm, dedication, and unmatched energy to bring camp to life.
Responsibilities
- Lead a group of 12 to 16 campers with a co-counselor through a planned schedule
- Teach pre-written curriculum and engage campers during break times
- Implement Headfirst’s safety protocols on supervision, bathrooms, emergency medications, and camper behavior management
- Lead arts and crafts, storytime, sports and games, playground, bathroom breaks, transitions, and snack times
- Nurture physical, social, and emotional safety by working directly with campers to support their development
- Represent Headfirst for families and facility partners by being enthusiastic, helpful, hands-on, and in uniform
- Participate in efforts to take care of the camp facility and community
- Be an active member of the camp team by arriving on time, communicating schedule changes promptly, being a loyal and consistent team member, and showing up for the campers and your team
- Be flexible with your assignment and open to supporting other programs on site
- Handle the curveballs by practicing resiliency and arriving with a “How Can I Help?” mentality that puts camper experience and team success at the forefront through problem solving and trying new things
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Must be able to work around small children including, sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs for the full day
- Must be able to work in hot and outdoor environments while actively supervising campers and participating in dynamic activities for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally
Qualifications
- Committed to adhering to the Cell-Phone Free policy, powering down and putting away cell phones in a locked pouch for the duration of your shift

Pay
$11 to $15.00 / hour
Schedule
In-season (late June through mid August): 100 am - 600 pm Monday - Friday
Pre-season (May and early June): select weekends for training and site preparation
