Expressive Therapist
Job Summary and Qualifications
The Activity Therapist is responsible for providing expressive therapy services to patients, as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in accordance with Live Oaks’ activity therapy work policy. Expressive therapy interventions are focused on helping the patient develop a stronger sense of self by promoting the identification and expression of feelings through participation in the creation and sharing of personal work, to include visual art, dance/movement, poetry, writing, drama or music.
Specific Job Functions
- Complete activity therapy assessments.
- Provide group and individual expressive therapy sessions appropriate to client needs.
- Display professionalism in dealing with customers, staff and clinicians.
- Complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Complete documentation in a timely manner.
- Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in monthly activity therapy staff meetings.
- Attend and participate in weekly clinical supervision.
- Work with the interdisciplinary team in meeting treatment goals.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Bachelor's Degree in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or Recreation Therapy – REQUIRED.
- Certification within the specialty may also be required at time of hire (MT-BC, ATR-BC, or CTRS).
