Responsibilities

  • Research, review, and classify software, hardware, third-party products, parts, and components in accordance with applicable export control regulations.
  • Support compliance activities related to the Export Administration Regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations, and applicable foreign government requirements.
  • Conduct reviews and investigations of companies, individuals, customers, business partners, and transactions for potential sanctions or export compliance risks.
  • Support product, part, component, hardware, and software classification efforts, including documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Prepare and submit classification requests to relevant government agencies, as needed.
  • Support export license application processes for controlled products, technologies, and transactions.
  • Aid in deemed export compliance activities, including review of foreign national candidates and support for export license applications submitted to the Bureau of Industry and Security.
  • Review and support documentation related to End User Certifications and Nuclear Nonproliferation Statements.
  • Gather data and evidence from internal systems, internet research, third-party tools, commercial databases, and business or compliance contacts.
  • Document investigation findings, classification rationale, compliance determinations, and supporting evidence in accordance with record retention requirements.
  • Escalate unusual findings or potential risks related to sanctions, export controls, terrorist financing, law enforcement concerns, or other compliance issues.
  • Support development and execution of export compliance awareness trainings.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and improvement of compliance processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to raise awareness of export compliance requirements, sanctions trends, emerging issues, remedial actions, and program enhancements.
  • Support special projects, urgent casework, and additional export and sanctions compliance initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of export compliance experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Export Administration Regulations, especially Categories 3, 4, and 5.
  • Experience with hardware and software product, part, and component classifications.
  • Experience with End User Certifications and Nuclear Nonproliferation Statements.
  • Experience investigating and researching companies, individuals, customers, business partners, and transactions for sanctions or export compliance risks.
  • Working knowledge of OFAC sanctions regulations and sanctions compliance concepts.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply sound ethical judgment in a compliance-focused environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain thorough and accurate documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and business functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, international relations, international trade, law, or a related field; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with international export control regulations.
  • Experience with ITAR compliance.
  • Experience with deemed export compliance and foreign national review processes.
  • Experience preparing or supporting export license applications.
  • Experience using export screening or compliance systems such as SAP GTS or Accuity Compliance Link.
  • Prior experience in global trade compliance, export classification, sanctions compliance, technology compliance, or financial crimes compliance.

Pay

  • $45-$52/hour, depending on experience.
