Expo Center Aide

About the role

This position is ideal for someone passionate about serving their community, naturally friendly, and unafraid of hard work. Prior to hiring, the final candidate may be subject to work/education/certification reference checks, a criminal background check, and a driver’s license verification.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and performs set-up for events by arranging tables, chairs, podiums, sound systems, and other items in accordance with lease agreements.
• Serves as a representative of the Exposition Center to lessees during events by ensuring proper operation of the facility, compliance with lease agreements, and resolving questions or concerns from lessees or event attendees.
• Performs maintenance and upkeep of grounds as directed by the Exposition Center Manager and/or Supervisor.
• Cleans public areas of the facilities, including mopping floors, hallways, and restrooms; scrubbing carpets; washing walls, tables, and chairs; and emptying waste cans.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients and Expo visitors.
• Maintains a positive image of the Exposition Center and County Government.
• Operates and maintains tools, power equipment, tractors, and trucks.
• Restocks supplies in restrooms and storage areas.
• Communicates problems, concerns, and suggestions for improvement to the Supervisor in a timely and constructive manner.
• Adheres to all County employment rules and regulations.
• Opens, closes, or locks doors to the facilities in accordance with event schedules and security requirements.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Ability to interact effectively and sensitively with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older.
• 8th grade education or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by the Supervisor.

Preferred Experience

• Manual labor experience, such as maintenance and upkeep of grounds, and arranging tables, chairs, podiums, sound systems, and other items.
• Janitorial/custodial experience, such as mopping floors, hallways, and restrooms; scrubbing carpets; washing walls, tables, and chairs; and emptying waste cans.

Pay

Salary range: $11.33 – $15.76 per hour.
