Explosives Detection Canine (EDC) Handler (Armed)

Duties and Requirements

• Conduct thorough searches for explosives alongside an explosives detection canine.
• Operate canine in accordance with the program and perform alarm resolution services as needed.
• Liaise with clients, security personnel, law enforcement representatives, and other client partners to properly execute client security plans and procedures.
• Maintain professional, effective verbal and written communication with client and company management.
• Execute a customer service focused mission.
• Possess high quality customer service skills.
• Be flexible to handle last-minute shift changes and/or post changes to meet client requirements.
• Maintain canine proficiency in accordance with contract policies and procedures and maintain required annual certifications.
• Perform basic canine emergency first-aid, if necessary.
• Properly maintain all issued equipment and uniforms.
• Participate in scheduled canine training events.
• Obtain and maintain any state security officer licensing requirements.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen.
• Pass criminal background checks including drug testing.
• Possess Georgia State Armed Security and Firearms License.
• Have the ability to house and care for the canine in your personal residence.

Preferred

• Legally own and possess Georgia registered approved Glock 9mm semiautomatic pistol.
• Prior law enforcement or military canine handling experience.
• Prior body-borne or person-borne canine handling experience.
• Standby duty willingness and availability.

Work Environment

During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The employee is frequently required to move about inside the facility to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
