About the role

The primary objective of this position is to support and supervise children in grades K-5 during the summer at an elementary school site or MCEC. This includes planning activities, managing program spaces, leading activities, providing guidance to Program Assistants and Program Aides, and creating a safe, caring, and fun environment for children.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance for students.
  • Manage program spaces, lead activities, and provide guidance to Program Assistants and Program Aides.
  • Create developmentally appropriate and engaging activities for students.
  • Provide a safe, caring, fun environment for children including the use of the site tracking system.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records in Eleyo.
  • Support students and ensure safety during non-school day programming both at our schools and on field trips in the community.
  • Establish a positive and friendly relationship with parents.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Complete required child care, first aid & CPR training prior to the first day of employment.
  • Must meet ONE of the following education and work experience requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
    • Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field AND three months of related experience.
    • AA or two years of college in a related field or equivalent certificate with six months of related experience.
    • An equivalent of one year full time work experience in childcare with Explorers OR an equivalent of two years childcare experience at the same level in a different program OR an equivalent of 3 years full time childcare in a lesser role in a different program.

Training, Experience and Licensing

  • Complete required child care, first aid & CPR training prior to the first day of employment.
  • Must meet ONE of the education and work experience requirements listed above.

Knowledge and Skills (at entry)

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Positive interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Evidence of successful experience working with young children in a child care setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Benefits

Not medical and dental benefit eligible.

Pay

Wages starting rate effective July 1, 2025: $21.94
Effective July 1, 2026: $22.60 per hour (plus $0.60 split shift differential)

Schedule

Flexible hours, 12 months per year, Monday-Friday (two day minimum), Morning And Afternoon Hours Available Between The Times Of 6:30-9:30 AM & 1:00-6:00 PM
