Expert Consultant, CFO Excellence
About the Role
Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is seeking an Expert Consultant to join our CFO Excellence (CFOx) team. This role partners with CFOs to tackle their most pressing challenges, including reimagining finance operating models, unlocking advanced analytics and AI, and driving transformative value across organizations. As an Expert Consultant, you will leverage deep expertise on projects that reshape finance functions, working closely with clients to understand their issues, create strategies for change, and win buy-in for recommendations. You will also collaborate with colleagues on complex client challenges and help build BCG’s expertise in this area.
The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to meet client demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG’s most complex and cutting-edge client challenges, focusing on thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property development. Consulting work is varied and rigorous, often performed at client sites, with projects varying in length, size, and location. International travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to workstreams within BCG projects, providing end-to-end responsibility for finance transformation initiatives.
- Partner with clients to diagnose finance function challenges, develop strategies, and drive implementation of recommendations.
- Apply deep expertise in finance topics such as operating model redesign, process re-engineering, technology enablement, shared services, finance technology, budgeting, management reporting, Business Intelligence, core accounting, tax, treasury, internal audit, and AI/machine learning.
- Collaborate with BCG teams to deliver integrated solutions, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Support the development of BCG’s thought leadership and intellectual property in finance transformation.
- Build trust and rapport with clients by deeply understanding their business and challenges.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in finance, covering areas such as finance function effectiveness, CFO advisory, FP&A, process and policy, technology, operations, organizational structure and strategy, and/or transformation.
- Previous consulting experience is required.
- Proven experience working on finance transformation programs, including operating model redesign, process re-engineering, technology enablement, shared services, finance technology, budgeting, management reporting, Business Intelligence, core accounting, tax, treasury, internal audit, and AI/machine learning.
- Experience with finance technology stacks, process optimization, and data architecture to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.
- Strong consulting skill set with a demonstrated willingness to learn and grow.
- Entrepreneurial, driven, and proactive mindset with a strong work ethic.
- Collaborative working style with a proven ability to team effectively across BCG and with clients.
- Advanced degree in a related field (preferred).

Pay
The base compensation for this role is $190,000 (USD). Eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus and BCG’s Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF) contribution.
