Experienced Veterinary Technician
About the role
VCA Animal Hospital of East Hartford is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join a dynamic team focused on providing exceptional care to small animals. This role offers hands-on experience in various aspects of veterinary medicine, including patient care, treatment support, anesthesia, surgery, and more.
Responsibilities
- Performs and assists with physical exams, gathering patient histories and vitals for the veterinary team
- Administers vaccines, medications, and treatments as directed, with accurate dosing and documentation
- Plays an active role in anesthesia management, including induction, maintenance, and monitoring vitals during procedures
- Assists in surgeries, including spay/neuter and other routine procedures, and supports instrument preparation and sterilization
- Supports radiography and basic diagnostic imaging, as well as in-house lab work such as bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal exams
- Provides dental care support, including cleanings, polishing, and dental radiographs
- Edits client education materials and provides at-home care instructions
- Maintains accurate medical records and communicates effectively with veterinarians and the care team
- Supports patient comfort and handling across a variety of routine and more involved cases
Requirements
Must hold a valid veterinary technician license and have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as is a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a certified veterinary technician. Must be licensed to practice in the state of Connecticut.

Pay
$19.00 - $27.00/hr based on skill set, experience, and licensure status.
Schedule
Full-time Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM shift, Saturday 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
