Experienced Veterinary Technician – 3rd Shift

About the role

Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and skilled technician or assistant to join their overnight team. The position involves providing nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients, triaging incoming patients, performing various medical procedures, and maintaining isolation protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with specialty and emergency veterinarians
• Participate in nurse rounds
• Triage incoming patients presenting on emergency
• Absess patient stability and obtain patient vital signs
• Perform diagnostics and treatments of emergency and hospitalized patients
• Perform hourly patient assessment and monitoring
• Observe patients and recognize changes in status
• Place peripheral and central catheters
• Restrained patients for exams and treatments
• Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids
• Maintain urinary catheters
• Bandage removal and application
• Perform suture and drain removal
• Perform drug dose calculations for injectable medications and CRIs
• Administer injectable medications (IV, IM, SQ)
• Administer other medications (PO, OU, AU)
• Maintain isolation protocols for infectious patients
• Basic wound cleaning and care
• Administer injectable and inhalant anesthesia
• Monitor patients while under anesthesia and maintain a monitoring log
• Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia
• Obtain samples for and perform in house laboratory testing
• Assist in CPCR

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of veterinary experience (emergency experience required)
• Current RVT in NC or eligible for NC registration (preferred, but not required)

Pay

The starting pay range is $1500.00 - $2500.00 based on experience. In addition, this position comes with a $1.50/hr shift differential for 3rd shift work.

Schedule

This role is full-time with every other weekend, including some holidays. It operates on a 3rd shift schedule from 10pm to 8am.
