Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical proceduresProvide compassionate, attentive patient carePrepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarianPerform venipuncture and diagnostic sample collection based on experience and trainingAssist with catheter placement and fluid therapyObtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs and maintain imaging standardsPerform in-house laboratory testing, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, and fecal testingSupport surgical procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument careAssist with dental procedures and patient monitoringSafely and compassionately handle and restrain patientsObtain patient histories and accurately document medical informationMaintain accurate and thorough medical records and patient chartsEducate and communicate with clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive healthcareMaintain clean, organized, stocked, and efficient treatment and exam areasCollaborate with veterinarians and teammates to maintain an efficient daily workflowJump in where needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers What You’ll Bring We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who combines strong technical skills with compassion, communication, reliability, and a team-first attitude. Previous hands-on Veterinary Assistant experienceConfidence with safe and compassionate patient handling and restraintExperience assisting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and proceduresExperience with venipuncture and diagnostic sample collectionFamiliarity with IV catheter placement and fluid therapyExperience obtaining diagnostic radiographsFamiliarity with in-house laboratory testing and sample preparationExperience supporting surgical and dental proceduresStrong patient-monitoring and nursing-care skillsExcellent client-service and communication skillsAbility to clearly reinforce veterinarian recommendations and discharge instructionsStrong attention to detail and accurate medical recordkeepingAbility to stay organized and multitask in a busy veterinary environmentDependability, adaptability, and professionalismA positive and collaborative approach to teamworkWillingness to ask questions, share knowledge, and continue learningA genuine passion for veterinary medicine and high-quality patient care The Extras You’ll Actually Feel At Fountain Valley Animal Hospital, work-life balance isn’t just something we talk about.
