Experienced Veterinary Assistant

About the role

VCA Palmetto Animal Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team. Located in beautiful Myrtle Beach, they offer emergency and critical care, primary care, surgery, and boarding services. Their state-of-the-art facility includes digital radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, surgical laser, cold laser therapy, a dedicated dental suite with radiology, and multiple surgery suites.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients
• Support the team by performing patient assessment and triage
• Assist with hospitalized patient care
• Provide client education and care
• Maintain anesthesia monitoring
• Prepare and assist during surgeries
• Collect and process laboratory samples and perform microscopy
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and pharmacy duties
• Keep accurate medical records

Requirements

• Experience as a Veterinary Assistant
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Basic knowledge of veterinary medicine and procedures
• Ability to work weekends

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (VTS) preferred

Pay

$16 - $20 per hour, based on skill level and experience.

Schedule

Full-time, with a weekend rotation required.
