About the role

iHeartMedia is the number one audio company in America, reaching 90% of Americans every month. This role involves keeping listeners informed about traffic and weather conditions in the local area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, accurate, and useful information to help commuters plan their drives.
  • Deliver up-to-the-minute reports on accidents, delays, and major traffic disruptions.
  • Read traffic updates, commercials, and public service announcements on air.
  • Gather information from multiple intake sources and monitor local, state, and national traffic feeds to determine what's most relevant.
  • Research, write, and produce traffic and weather copy for on-air use; edit audio using digital editing software.
  • Manage incoming information, verify facts, and ensure all details are accurate and current; maintain updated content on station websites.
  • Create written, visual, audio, and video content for websites, blogs, and social media platforms.
  • Work a flexible schedule as needed, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Strong knowledge of local geography, major roadways, mass transit systems, and traffic patterns.
  • A clear, pleasant, and well-controlled on-air voice with excellent pronunciation.
  • Skilled at working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom style environment.
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities with a strong command of grammar.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with consistent follow-through until issues are resolved.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a high-volume setting.
  • Familiarity with police scanners is a plus.
  • Previous broadcast experience preferred.

Pay

Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data. Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Schedule

Flexible schedule as needed, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
