About the role

DeBoer's Auto has been part of Northwest New Jersey since 1982, when Bill DeBoer, Sr. opened his doors in Newton doing what he knew best: body work and used car sales. Bill Sr. had immigrated from Holland as a two-year-old, grew up with a hands-on fascination for cars, and spent 13 years building vehicles at Ford's Mahwah assembly plant before striking out on his own. When New Jersey began licensing body shops in 1986, Bill Sr. adapted without missing a beat — shifting his focus entirely to used car sales and eventually relocating the business to Hamburg, NJ, where the DeBoer name became a trusted fixture in the community.

In 1997, his son Bill Jr. joined the business after graduating from Penn State with a degree in Business Management and a Certificate in Automotive Technology. Bill Jr. saw where things were headed — vehicles were getting more complex, and customers needed a shop they could actually trust with the technology under the hood. He built out a full service and repair operation alongside the car sales side, investing in diagnostics, training, and the kind of systems that a modern shop requires. He holds an Automotive Manager accreditation from AMI, a NIADA Certified Master Dealer designation, and ASE Master Technician certifications including L1 Advanced Engine Performance. When Bill Sr. retired in 2016, Bill Jr. stepped into the role of Visionary and CEO — and made a deliberate call: sunset the retail car sales and go all-in on mechanical repair. No distractions. Just a focused, high-tech service operation built entirely around taking care of the vehicles customers already own.

More than four decades after those first days in Newton, the commitment is the same: honest work, skilled hands, and every repair backed by a 36-month/36,000-mile nationwide warranty. Helping people live life uninterrupted. Not a slogan. The standard we hold ourselves to every day.
