Experienced RN - Registered Nurse - Hematology Oncology - Stephenson Cancer Center
About the role
This position may be filled as an Ambulatory RN Level 1 or 2, depending on individual experience, education, and other qualifications. The Hematology Oncology Clinic is an outpatient facility at the Stephenson Cancer Center with 12-15 providers, servicing roughly 60 patients with different blood disorders and cancer diagnoses, as well as Bone Marrow Biopsy's procedures and interventions. This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment that requires great communication skills, the ability to multitask, and welcomes a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned patient, group of patients, or patients to be seen by service/clinic.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
- Aids physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medication as prescribed.
- Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivers patient care safely and competently.
- Resolves patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff.
- Informs patient and family of clinic and/or unit procedures and shares care plan during the time of care and at the time of discharge.
- Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: 0-3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse.
- Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)). Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse required.
- Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)). Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
