Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Tertiary Team Leader, the Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and demonstrates Lahey Clinic’s core values that reflect its Mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care and accountability are central to the delivery of individualized high quality patient care.

Responsibilities

A Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety and age-appropriate considerations of patients. Responsibilities include:

  • Bearing full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to individuals and groups, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of Massachusetts Rules & Regulations- 244 CMR 3.0.
  • Health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or dignified death for patients.
  • Assuming responsibility for the plan of care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Facilitating coordination of care across the continuum and demonstrating safe practice within the domains of clinical judgment, professional relationships, clinical leadership, and clinical scholarship.
  • Delegation and supervision in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of Massachusetts and ANA Principles of Delegation, including proper assignment, teaching, directing, and supervising delegates.
  • Providing direct patient care in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills with technical procedures as defined by nursing specialty organizations.
  • Complying with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a 2-4 year state-approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.
  • At least 1 year of previous nursing experience in acute care or sub-acute setting required.
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license required.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
  • PC skills.
  • Lifting 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred.

Pay

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay: $37.00 - $95.37. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices.
