Job Description
Who we are: Two full-time working parents with three children (ages 2, 4, and 9). This role also includes our neighbor child (age 4) who also has two working parents when the 2026 school year begins in August.
Ideal Candidate: Reliable, organized, and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in managing household tasks, schedules, and logistics. Anticipates household and childcare needs to ensure smooth daily operations. Flexible and adaptable, able to adjust to changing routines and household needs while maintaining a positive attitude. Patient, loving, and kind with children, while maintaining clear boundaries and providing consistent support. Able to engage with high energy preschoolers.
Qualifications: Some prior experience in household support, family assistance, nannying, or a related role; entry-level candidates encouraged to apply. Interest or experience in cooking nutritious, kid-friendly meals and meal preparation. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, routines, and multiple tasks independently. Responsible, dependable, and proactive with a positive, energetic attitude. Ability to build respectful and trusting relationships with children while supporting family routines and boundaries. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and comfort transporting children. CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain. Ability to swim as we spend a lot of time in the pool. Able to pass extensive criminal and background checks. Able to provide at least 2–3 professional or personal references demonstrating reliability and responsibility.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: $25/hr
- One week paid time off/year
- 5 paid sick days/year
- Use of a family vehicle for work-related driving duties
Household & Family Management Tasks
- Take lead on the family’s dinner routine, including meal planning and preparation, ensuring balanced, nutritious meals (meal prep in advance is acceptable to support this key responsibility)
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and order in common areas, children’s spaces, and throughout the home
- Manage household supplies, restock as needed, and ensure a smoothly running, well-organized home environment
- Manage family laundry including wash/fold/put away
- Run errands and routine household tasks to support the family’s needs efficiently such as returns, grocery shopping, dry cleaning, and seasonal tasks
- Support children’s pick-up and drop-off schedules from school and activities
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding household and children’s logistics, including the ability to follow and manage written instructions via text, digital family calendar reminders, etc
Child Support & Coordination Tasks
- Support the children’s routines, homework, and recreational activities as well as play time and bedtime
- Provide supervision during transit, time at home, and after-school activities
- Note: sometimes these activities are outside during hot Texas summers
- Ensure children’s schedules run smoothly while maintaining safety and structure
