Job Description
The Core Assembly engineering group within NNL's Core Manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced engineer or scientist to provide technical oversight of nuclear reactor core component manufacturing. This team provides engineering leadership and production insight for the NIMITZ, VIRGINIA, FORD, and COLUMBIA-class programs.
- Provide technical oversight and direction for the manufacture of reactor core components.
- Collaborate with internal engineering organizations, manufacturing partners, and government stakeholders to ensure successful, on time delivery of reactor core components.
- Monitor production progress, identify risks or emerging issues, and develop opportunities for process and quality improvement.
- Develop, review, and support technical plans, qualification activities, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Lead resolution of complex technical issues and support routine engineering tasks.
- Mentor early career engineers and promote strong technical quality and rigor across assigned work.
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of technical requirements, design changes, and contract changes.
- Support initiatives led by partner engineering organizations and contribute to cross organizational improvement efforts.
- Perform occasional travel to supplier facilities to support issue resolution, production readiness, and technical reviews.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience;
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience;
- Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
- Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Pay Range
$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
