About the Role

The NNL Main Machinery group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer. This role involves providing crucial turbomachinery design support as well as advancing the development of component vendors and technologies. The ideal candidate should have experience in the design, analysis, or testing of steam turbines or generators and demonstrate a willingness to learn about a range of associated engineering fields. They will play a key role in building and sustaining turbomachinery expertise within NNL.

This position requires applying principles-based engineering and sound judgment to evaluate a range of design aspects for steam turbines and related hardware. This role entails working within NNL's New Design business area and significant collaboration with naval nuclear shipyards and steam turbine design vendors. Technical responsibilities will span various mechanical engineering disciplines, including structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or
  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or
  • Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

  • Mechanical design and analysis of steam turbines, rotating machinery, or power generation equipment

Pay

$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually. Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
